First Aid For Hounds Practical Workshop

Last Saturday the 22nd October saw our ‘First Aid Workshop for Hounds’ take place in Witherslack Village Hall. With a session in the morning and another in the afternoon it was a ‘hands on’ experience that was very informative. Many topics were covered including how to deal with first aid issues when on a walk, minor injuries and illnesses, things to look out for if your hound isn’t well, is unconscious, choking, bitten or stung as well as how to apply dressings, take temperatures and know where your dog’s pulses are. It was a super day and we wish to thank Liz Dodd and Claire Harris from Highgate Veterinary Clinic who gave us their time and experience which taught us all so much, and helped us raise a magnificent £906.78. We would also like to thank all who helped organise it, run the workshop (including the catering, which was also kindly donated), and clear everything away after. To all those who attended including the hounds who participated in the workshop, and to those who looked after all the dogs at the homing centre while we were out.
It was such a success and we all learnt so much we are hoping to organise another sometime next year.
